Thankfully for Torontonians, claiming to be from the best city in the world is actually more fact than fiction. It’s no longer just a matter of opinion, Toronto really is the best city in the world to live in and it seems the world has taken notice. Torontonians, it’s time to put away your political correctness and proclaim your northern greatness to the world!

  1. TORONTO IS THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD TO LIVE IN: THE ECONOMIST
    eiu_vertical_logoYou can’t get any more official than that. Ranked by The Economist as the best city in the world to live in its Safe Cities Index 2015. The report is based on an index composed of more than 40 quantitative and qualitative indicators. These indicators are split across four categories: digital security; health security; infrastructure safety; and personal safety. Toronto ranked best overall! 
  2. TORONTO RANKS BEST CITY TO INVEST IN REAL ESTATE
    Toronto tops the list of world real estate markets that make the best bet for long-term investment, according to a study from U.K. property developer Grosvenor. The survey aims to measure which real estate markets are the most resilient, and therefore make the best long-term investment.

    Move over Paris, New York, London… according to Christie’s International, Toronto is now the king of the luxury real estate market, worldwide. Toronto saw a whopping 37% increase in high-end residential real estate purchases from high net-worth individuals in 2014.

    Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is the new standard in office buildings with ratings given based on site sustainability, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resource, indoor environmental quality and the innovation and design process.

  5. TORONTO IS TOP NORTH AMERICAN CITY IN THE SUSTAINABLE CITIES INDEX
    Although we ranked 12th globally, we took top spot in North America for most sustainable city. This index ranks cities based on three dimensions of sustainability including social, environmental and economic, with a sub-categories titled People, Planet and Profit.
     
  6. TORONTO RANKS MOST BUSINESS COMPETITIVE CITY
    KPMG’s Competitive Alternatives Report the complex factors affecting a company’s tax burden, in order to provide a simple and effective approach for cross-location comparisons based on the tax results of different business scenarios. To this end, this report compares the total tax burden faced by companies in each country and city, including: Corporate income taxes, property taxes, capital taxes, sales taxes, miscellaneous local business taxes and statutory labour costs. Doing business in Toronto just makes (dollars &) sense.

  7. TORONTO RANKS SECOND MOST IMPORTANT FINANCIAL CENTRE IN NORTH AMERICAToronto best city in the world
    The U.K.-based Financial Times publication The Banker put out a study of international financial centres and ranked Toronto 7th in the world and 2nd only to New York in North America.
     
  8. TORONTO NAMED ‘MOST YOUTHFUL’ CITY IN THE WORLD
    The sounds great, but what does “most youthful city in the world” actually mean? The report looks at census data, municipal statistics, crime rates, and a youth survey to determine its findings. According to the results, Toronto placed first for diversity, and ranks in the top five of sixteen other categories, including economic status, music and film, food and nightlife, public space and minimum wage.

  9. TORONTO RANKED #2 IN TOP 10 SMART CITIES ON THE PLANET
    We’re not just beautiful and amazing at nearly everything, but it seems we’re pretty smart, too! In its global ranking of smart cities, Fast Company magazine ranks Toronto second only to Vienna as a top smart city and the highest ranked North American city.
     
  10. UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO NAMED BEST IN CANADA, TOP 20 IN THE WORLD
    The report by QS ranked U of T first in Canada in all discipline areas: arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences, and social sciences and management. The QS rankings scores universities by academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio and citations per faculty, among other categories.
