Ilan Joseph’s career in real estate began in 2002 at the age of 20. As a second generation realtor, Ilan was already ahead of the game when it came to understanding the ins and outs of the real estate business and what happens behind the scenes with maintaining a high level of customer service. “Being a top real estate agent is far more than just buying and selling homes – it requires the right attitude, interpersonal skills, relentless persistence and a keen eye for opportunity,” says Ilan.
In his first year as an agent, Ilan sold a remarkable 19 homes while continuing studies to complete his broker’s licence. He now sells more homes in one year than most Realtors sell in their careers and says what made him fall in love with real estate was “the excitement that came with negotiating a favourable deal for my clients. I quickly learned that a strong negotiator is not the person who is the loudest or most forceful, but rather the one who can understand what is motivating both sides and uses that knowledge to their advantage when negotiating.”
Recognized by the media as one of Toronto’s leading real estate experts, Ilan is regularly called upon by journalists and has been repeatedly asked to star on real estate shows for HGTV, Bravo and the W Network. He is often quoted in the Toronto Star, National Post and Toronto Sun and has consulted many companies large and small, including Google, when the company first made their move onto Canadian soil.
His client list is impressive and includes a Grammy winning recording artist, Juno award winners, Canadian television personalities and past major league athletes. His listings too have run the gamut with his most expensive listing being a 22,000 equestrian estate listed for $18 million.
When asked what he attributes his success to, Ilan states that “having a great mentor was my foundation. I was able to build on that with my high energy level and a willingness to go the extra mile. Staying motivated and being resourceful is essential to being a leader and really succeeding as a realtor.
